How to Take Everyday Risks

Posted on March 24 2016

Be Fearless

Without taking a few risks in life, you’ll never get to live to your full potential. We’re not just talking about scary risks like bungee jumping, or skydiving (although both of those sound like amazing ideas). We're talking about the everyday risks that can help you get out of your comfort zone and in the end reap you with tons of rewards.

Often the thought of failure, humiliation or rejection is such a fearful thought that you try everything to avoid taking risks. But you need to remember that at the same time, you can potentially gain so much more in life from taking the risk.

So to help you break out of your shell and live life a little more daringly, were sharing our favourite tips to help you ease into becoming a bona fide risk taker.

Think Fearlessly
If Taylor Swift has taught us anything it's that living fearlessly is important for moving on in life. You need to be fearless at work, and in your personal life. If you’re no longer afraid of failure, you can ask your boss for the promotion you’ve been wanting, or ask the girl out that you’ve been to afraid to ask.

What’s The Worst That Could Happen?
Like any tough question in life, what’s the worst thing that could happen? You could be rejected and get a no, or you have a 50 per cent chance of receiving a yes! Don’t be afraid of rejection, as there’s always that silver lining of hope that you could end up receiving the answer that you wanted.

If At First You Don’t Succeed…
Many of us have grown up hearing the old saying, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again,” and it’s very important to remember when taking on risks. Things might not always go your way, but you can’t let that stop you. You need to get back on the horse and try again. Taking risks can be hard, but that doesn’t mean you need to give up if you don’t succeed the first time you try.

Make A Statement
If you want to get far in life, you’re going to want people to remember you. So when it comes to taking a risk at work and talking to your boss about a raise, you need to leave a good impression. The best way to do that is to live fearlessly and make a statement, in a professional way. The Yo Sox team always believes that the simplest way to take a fearless risk is by wearing a pair of bold socks, which will show off your personality and show your boss your not afraid to make a statement.
