Have you ever wondered where your missing socks go after they disappear? Sure, they may end up stuck in the back of your dryer or chewed up by your dog, but have you ever stopped to bid farewell to these missing socks?
Because no matter how hard you try to keep pairs of socks together, invariably one of them ventures away from its match never to be seen again. Over time, you may find that you end up with entire drawers filled with unmatched socks. To honor of all the socks that have gone missing May 9th is Lost Sock Memorial Day — a day where you can say goodbye to all of your missing socks and put their surviving matches to use.
Luckily there are plenty of ways to put your missing sock's remaining matches to use instead of sending them straight to the trash. First thing you need to do is clean out all of your left behind socks that you’ve accumulated and see what ones can be saved and what ones need to be tossed. Then you can assess what you'd like to do with them.
You can put a tennis ball or rubber ball inside an old sock that you’ve tied up with a knot to make a chew-toy for your dog. Or you can save a few random socks and use them as dusters or as rags for cleaning your car. If you have young children in your life you can help them turn your socks into a makeshift hand puppet.
Finally, you must have a moment of silence for all the socks you have lost. And then head onto yo-sox.ca so you can pick out all new socks to replace the ones you’ve lost!
