For those who have yet to look at a calendar, today is Friday the 13th. Are you one of those people who believe bad things happen on this day? If so, you’re definitely not alone. Here are some interesting facts about Friday the 13th and the “bad luck” surrounding the number 13 in general.
Many people have various phobias: there’s arachnophobia (fear of spiders), triphobia (fear of clustered spots — it’s a thing, trust us) agoraphobia (fear of open spaces) and even ophidiophobia (the fear of snakes). But if you’re afraid of the number 13, it’s called triskaidekaphobia.
Fear of Friday the 13th:
Aside from being seriously afraid of the number 13, there are also people terrified of Friday the 13th, and we’re not talking about the movie. Some people spend today avoiding ladders, black cats, looking into a broken mirror and everything superstitious at all costs.
The Fear of the 13th Floor:
There are also many people who are terrified of
apartments and buildings that have a 13th floor and they prefer buildings that leave off “13” from their floors, going from 12 straight to 14. Which, of course, makes no sense.
